Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to conduct the relationship analysis of rheumatoid arthritis on anxiety/depression and suicidal ideation among people within age group of 50-60 years.

Methods: Using the 6th National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data (2013 and 2015), 114 subjects with rheumatoid arthritis and 3,765 subjects without arthritis were compared. Complex sample design chi-test and logistic regression method was performed for analysis using SPSS/WIN 18.0 statistical program.

Results: When controlling the demographic characteristics (gender, age, income, education, occupation, marital status), the level of anxiety/depression was 1.79 times higher among those with rheumatoid arthritis than those without (95% CI=1.20~2.68, p=.005). Suicidal ideation was not statistically significant (95% CI=0.94~2.86, p=.082).

Conclusion: People with rheumatoid arthritis are more likely to develop anxiety/depression, suggesting the need to develop ideal and effective programs that possibly would provide careful monitoring and management for such people.
